Why a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon?

What Sets the Rubicon Apart from Other Jeeps.

Why choose a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon? Because the Rubicon is a dedicated off-road machine. It comes with 33-inch BF Goodrich all-terrain tires for extra traction, Tru-Lok electronic locking differentials for more traction, and an electronic sway bar disconnect for, yep, even more traction.

However, don't let the Rubicon's off-roading capabilities, and it's rugged, Spartan design, make you overlook other amenities that create a fantastic Ouray off-roading experience, including a leather interior, 7-inch Uconnect infotainment screen, and 115-volt auxiliary outlet.

For more information on why the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is by far your best bet for back country roads in our part of Colorado, keep reading, or give us a call. We live and breathe Ouray, and we'll be more than happy to answer your questions.

33-Inch All-Terrain Tires

In general, relative to smaller tires, a 33-inch tire puts more surface area on the ground, which gives you more traction and grip. A larger tire also gives you more stability in rocky or muddy conditions.

33-inch tires will make going over rock crevices much easier. In addition, because of the tires' thickness, they'll be less prone to punctures. Most importantly, the larger surface area of the tires will simply make it easier for your Jeep to climb.

Due to the 33-inch tires we use, ground clearance on our Jeep Wrangler Rubicons is an impressive 10.8 inches. Note that high clearance fender flares are also part of  our Rubicon packages.

Tru-Lok Electronic Locking Differential

The typical differential is an open differential. An open differential lets each wheel rotate at a different speed, and power goes to the wheel with the least resistance. So, if one wheel is in the air, power will flow to that wheel. This is great for everyday driving, but is, at best, inefficient for off-roading.

A locking differential locks both wheels on a given axle together. As a result, the wheels turn together, even when the wheels have different traction. As a result, both wheels can apply as much rotational force as traction will allow. In short, a locking differential increases traction.

Our Jeep Wrangler Rubicons have Tru-Lok electronic locking differentials. This locking system uses a panel-mounted rocker switch to lock front, rear, or front-and-rear axles, which is convenient.

All in all, Tru-Lok electronic locking differentials are exactly what you need for a great off-roading experience.

Electronic Sway Bar Disconnect

A sway bar helps stabilize your jeep and also helps prevent body roll. Normally, this is a good thing. Driving at a high speed and taking a sharp turn without a sway bar connected could easily lead to you flipping your Jeep.

However, when off-roading, you want your left and right tires to move up and down independent of each other. Basically, disconnecting the sway bar gives the wheels more flex, relative to each other. More flex (articulation) means more traction. For example, your Rubicon's left wheel can be up high on a rock, while it's right wheel is low and flat on the ground.

Disconnecting a sway bar can be done manually, but  that can be inconvenient or dangerous. An electronic sway bar disconnect allows you to disconnect and reconnect your sway bar from the comfort of your jeep.

All our Jeep Wrangler Rubicons come with electronic sway bar disconnects as standard equipment.

Other extras

Our Jeep Wrangler Rubicons include off-road rock rails to protect your rocker panels and to give you a place to step when moving around your Rubicon. To handle the stress incurred during off-roading, Dana 44 heavy duty front and rear axles are standard.

As for the interior, you'll get a massive Uconnect 7-inch touch screen infotainment center, rather than the usual 5-inch screens found in other Jeep models.

Finally, each of our Jeep Wrangler Rubicons comes with a 115-volt auxiliary outlet to power any devices you bring along on your Ouray off-roading adventure.
